In early 2006 the idea for the Sculpture was born and work to complete the paper mache form for the structure began in the Spring. As the 2006-2007 school year began teachers inspired by Two-Year-Old Class Teacher Trisha’s excitement about mosaic, made the decision to embrace this new material and build the sculpture out of mosaic. With this in mind and the opportunity to visit the “Niki in the Gardens” exhibit at the Botanical Garden, classes took many field trips in small groups of children to look for further inspiration for the construction of the mosaic sculpture. The sculpture was completed during the summer of 2007.
