Dear GPCP Families,

School closed today, Tuesday January 29th, due to potential inclement weather.  Stay warm!
In- house registration for 2019-2020 school year has come to a close! We are so excited to have so many of our families returning for another fabulous school year!

The GP Campus Open House was also well attended on Sunday and we look forward to hosting the CT Campus Open House next Saturday at 10:00am.

Big thanks to the parents on the Communications Committee for all their support with our Open Houses!

Wednesday, January 30th is the first of the Child Talk Series at 7:00pm @ the Cabbagetown Campus -  Childcare will be provided.  Big thanks to Jerome Lubbe for offering this talk.

“Fear free parenting and discipline techniques” by Jerome Lubbe –Bennet’s dad - Dr. Lubbe is a Board Certified Functional Neurologist and Chiropractor

In this group conversation, we will address how to promote: compliance, self-regulation, shame-free discipline, affirmation, and increased understanding of childhood developmental processes. The goal of our time together will be to foster safety, confidence and connection for both parent and child. Dr. Lubbe will also be sharing a variety of evidence-based best practices utilized in both his private practice and with his children that can be implemented with our own families.

Several concepts we will discuss include:

• When fear increases cognition decreases

• Compliance precedes understanding

• Struggle breeds efficiency

• One deep breath can reset the circuit breaker

• Eye contact is your most powerful resource

'Gala in the Grove' 2019 Annual Auction at Trees Atlanta!
Grant Park Cooperative Preschool signature social and fundraising event returns! Join us for an evening of live and silent auctions featuring a variety of donated items, services and experiences up for grabs — plus catering, bar service, music and more. Family auction packets were distributed to GPCP parents at class meetings last Thursday. The packet includes information regarding tickets, donation guidelines, volunteer requirements and childcare.

*Alumni families and neighborhood boosters are also invited and encouraged to attend this adults-only gathering. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more info!

Each GPCP family is required to donate two items that could realistically be auctioned for $200 total, or you may donate $250 in cash, in lieu of providing donated items. The auction committee will begin accepting donated silent auction items starting March 1st at both campuses.  If you did not volunteer at the Grant Park Tour of Homes in December, the auction is the last opportunity for families to fulfill the mandatory volunteer shift.

Please take some time and review the Family Auction Packet for more detailed information.

Please take some time to read the class’ monthly newsletters and enjoy!

“The Hundred Languages of Children” Preschool Age Camps at the Grant Park Campus and Cabbagetown Campus

Our summer camp program focuses on some of the languages of expression our school offers throughout the school year. The name of the camp is in honor of The Wonder of Learning - The Hundred Languages of Children exhibit that GPCP will be hosting in Atlanta this year, together with our sister schools in Project Infinity.  The Hundred Languages of Children comes from a poem by Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia Approach and it is a metaphor for the many, many languages of expression children have a right to be exposed to on a daily basis at school.
